Ames, Carlisle Ave., occurred on Tuesday, May 26, 1970, at Memorial Hospital, Bowmanville. She had been in failing health for several years. Daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Wilson Anderson, the former Illadel N. Anderson was born at Wellman's Corners and in 1917 married Mr. Jesse S. Ames who survives. Mrs. Ames had resided in Bowmanville for 47 years and was a member of Trinity United Church. She was also a member of the United Church Women of Trinity Church, and her interests centred around her home and family. Surviving, besides husband Jesse, are a son, Ralph W. Ames, Bowmanville; a brother, Fred Anderson of Moose Jaw, Sask.; and a granddaughter, Jill. The funeral service was held from the Northcutt Elliott Funeral Home, Bowmanville, on Thursday, May 28th, and was conducted by Rev. G. K. Ward of Trinity United Church. Interment was in Bowmanville Cemetery. Pallbearers were Messrs. Sam Black, Jack Brough, George Fisher, Don Gilhooly, Lou McFeeters and George White. The Tweedsmuir Histories of Codrington include a death notice: "Dr. James Addison Ames - Funeral services for Dr. James Addison Ames, who died Thursday January 21st, 1926, took place at his late residence in Rochester, N. Y., 178 Field Street. Dr. Ames is survived by his wife, Mrs. Lillian Starke Ames; three daughters, Mrs. M. E. Sykes and Misses Arlene and Verna of Rochester; three sisters, Mrs. Walter Striker, Mrs. J. W. Clark and Mrs. James Tood (Todd?), and one brother, Wallace, all of Canada; one son, Milton, in Rochester. There are also two grandchildren, the sons of Mrs. M. E. Sykes. Dr. Ames was born in Codrington and graduated in medicine from Queen's University in 1899. For nearly twenty years he practised medicine in Rush and West Henrietta, N. Y.. During the war he volunteered for service and was sent to camps Johnson and Greenleaf during the influenza epidemic. Dingwall, Castleton, died Sunday, March 5 at Sidbrook Private Hospital, Cobourg. He was born May 10, 1892, the son of the late David R. Dingwall and his wife Ella Goodfellow and lived his entire life with the exception of the last six years on Crown Land in Cramahe Township brought by his grandfather David R. Dingwall from the Canada Land Co. in the year 1852. He is survived by his wife Muriel (nee Newman) two sons, David R., Castleton, and Jack, Scarboro and a daughter, Mrs. Edwin Boes (Frances), Brighton; six grandchildren, David, Robert and Gordon Dingwall, Castleton, Ronald and Beverley Boes, Brighton, and Brian and Brenda Dingwall, Scraboro. Two sisters also survive, Mrs. H. L. Smith (Gertrude), Ottawa and Mrs. Martin Peterson (Grace), Warkworth. He was a staunch Conservative and for 10 years was treasurer of Cramahe Baptist Church. The funeral service was conducted Tuesday, March 7, by his pastor, Rev. Kenneth Robinson at the Allen Funeral Home, Warkworth. Temporary entombment took place in Warkworth vault for spring burial in Castleton Cemetery.
