"Passed Away - Mrs. Inglis Haig, one of Colborne's oldest, best known and most respected residents, passed over to the great majority on Tuesday morning last. Her maiden name was Leitch, sister of Mr. George Leitch, well known by many in Colborne in former years, and for many years a prominent farmer in the township of Alnwick. Mrs. Haig's first husband was Mr. Geo. Inglis, who died a few years ago, leaving Mrs. Inglis quite comfortable, which union resulted in a somwhat large family, five of whom grew up to manhood and womanhood. One son died after having grown up, so that three sons and one daughter survive. Two of the sons, Peter and John, hold high and lucrative positions in the railway system of thje Western States, the other we believe is well situated in business, and the daughter, herself a widow, lives in Kansas. About three or four years ago Mrs. Inglis and Mr. John haig, a retired farmer from Haldimand, were united in marriage and with him she lived during the remaining days of her sojourn here. The deceased was ever ready with an open hand incase of need, was kind hearted, sympathetic and cheerful, a good citizen and a faithful member of the Presbyterian Church. She has been failing for some months, hence her death was not altogether unexpected." from newspaper clipping included in a collection donated to the Cobough Public Library by Carol Brown of Salem, items being collected by a Mrs. Brown (Gerow), one of Carol's husband Jim's grandparents(?).
