Fieldhouse on Sunday afternoon to Riverside cemetery was attended by many sorrowing friends and relatives and the memorial service in the Methdist church Sunday night, conducted by Rev. Mrs. Stacey, was one of the most impressive events in the history of that congregation of which deceased was an honored and valued member for so many years. In his sermon, Rev. Mr. Stacey paid a high tribute to the upright character and kindly disposition of the deceased woman. It was a matter of general regret and of deep grief to the bereaved husband and daughter at home that none of the other members of the family could attend the obsequies. Gerow, A Souris District Pioneer - From Souris, Man., Plaindealer: The death of Andrew W. Gerow, which occurred here this morning, Feb. 13th, 1923, removes another of the pioneers of the district. Deceased was born at Wheatland Farm, Oak Heights, Ontario, on Feb. 16th, 1852, and was second son of the late John L. Gerow of Oak Heights. He was a miller by trade. He came West in 1879 and homesteaded at Midway, South of Arden, and in 1885 moved to the Souris district and settled on land five miles north of the town. Three years ago, he gave up his activities on the farm and took up residence in Souris. For 23 years, Mr. Gerow served on the Glenwood Municipal Council Board being first elected as a Councillor in 1892, and was Reeve from 1911 to 1921. He was married in 1887 to Emma Townsend of Warkworth, Ontario who survives him, together with four sons and one daughter - Harry, Arthur and Perry of Souris, Frank of Vancouver, and Helen at home; also one brother and six sisters - D. J. Gerow and Mrs. W. Holmes of Neepawa, Man., Mrs. W. Parsons of Edmonton, Alberta, Mrs. A. A. Murphy of Edville, Ont., Mrs. W. E. Eakins of Colborne, Ont., Mrs. J. Arkles of Warkworth, Ont. and Mrs R. M. Male of Rochester,N.Y. He was a member of the Methodist Church.
