Jackson on two sections next to each other - the Southwest and southeast quarters of Section 13, Township 14, Range 15, West of the 3rd Meridian. This is a bot north of the location of his homestead at NE 1 14 15 W3. Seen at The Saskatchewan Archives, Regina, Sask., Dec 21, 2000

    L. Jackson is shown on three quarters: NW & NE 13 14 15 W3 and NE 18 14 14 W3. This may be Sidney's brother Lyman who is mentioned in his Obiturary. I have no Lyman Jackson in Sidney's family per the Ontario 1901 Census but he may have been born after 1901.
  • Residence: 1922; SW & SE 13 14 15 W3, Saskatchewan; Cummins Rural Map for 1922 shows S D Jackson on 3 quarters: Southwest and southeast of Section 13, Township 14, Range 15, West of the 3rd Meridian as well as Sw 18 14 14 W3 (near L Jackson).

  • Residence*: 1924; Meridian W3, Twp. 14, Range 15, Section 1, Part 4 NE, Saskatchewan; "Part: 1 NE, Section 1, Township 14, Range 15, Meridian W3; Liber: 614; Folio: 472; File reel number: C-6424; Names: Sidney D. Jackson" record from Saskatchewan Wheat Pool 1924 survey maps.
This land is just a few miles south west of Swift Current, placing Sidney D. Jackson in the area in 1924.
  • Note*: 1924; Meridian W3, Twp. 14, Range 15, Section 1 Part 4 NE, Saskatchewan; The National Archives of Canada provides a database for Dominion Land Grants that can be used to search for the names of homesteaders in Saskatchewan. The resulting records show the location of the person which can then be located on Saskatchewan Wheat Pool maps.
The Saskatchewan Wheat Pool Survey maps of 1924 contain small sections of Saskatchewan with grids showing townships and ranges as well as railroads and towns. The locations can be determined base on the following: Meridian refers to the north-south lines that provide the boundaries of prairie provinces. The Alberta/Saskatchewan border is Meridian 4 and the Saskatchewan/ Manitoba boundary is Meridian 2. Meridian 3 runs down the middle of Saskatchewan. Sidney D. Jackson is referred to as W3 - West of Meridian 3, which means the western part of Saskatchewan. Townships are numbered from the U.S. border north and ranges are numbered from the eastern border or Saskatchewan to the western border. This is the grid on the map with allows us to see Sidney D. Jackson's land just a bit sourth west of Swift Current in southern Saskatchewan. This unit is divided into 36 sections, numbered from the south east corner, counting to the western edge of the range, then up a section. Counting continues back to the eastern border and so on until section 36 is reached at the extreme north east of the range. Sidney D. Jackson is shown to be in Section 1, the extreme south eastern section. Finally, a section is divided into quarters, designated by number and relative location. Sidney D. Jackson is in the 4 NE part of Section 1. (based on info in the Saskatchewan GenWeb site under the heading Homewstead Records)
