- Burial*: 2002; Mount Hope Cemetery, Brighton, Northumberland Co., Ontario; Tracy Proctor told me that both her father and mother are interred in Mount Hope Cemetery but she was not sure where. Her father and uncle had been corresponding with Brighton re interment info which had been recently forthcoming. She had a map which highlighted Lot 4 which is the plot where the memorial already stands for Josiah H. Proctor, William C. Proctor and Isaac Oscar Proctor, all brothers of John Edward Proctor. She said that both her father, John Wright Proctor, and her mother, Marjorie Lorraine Proctor, had been cremated. His had been kept in Calgary and when she died, both urns were sent to Walas Funeral Home in Brighton for interment. They were no available plots so they were buried in an existing plot. We did see that this is a large stone with lots of room for more inscriptions, if that is what they want to do. Tracy and her husband Paul Kelly visited Proctor House Museum on July 1, 2017 and I took them to Mount Hope Cemetery to look at the stones. They will deal with the Municipality to have something done here for her grandparents. (Dan Buchanan, July 1, 2017)6
- Note: 19 August 1918; Presqu'ile Park, Brighton, Northumberland Co., Ontario; "One summer morning as we were swimming, a plane landed nearby - the undercarriage struck a stake at the water's edge used to picket horses, and flipped over on its back in the shallow water and the pilot climbed out. A light breeze was blowing off shore and the plane drifted into the lake. Mrs. Auston, a widow and cousin of Dad's was visiting with her two sons, Charlies 14 and Jack 12. We all helped pull our rowboat into the lake and Charles Auston and the pilot took off after the plane. Just as they reached the front of the plane it tipped tail up in the air pinning Charlie and the boat underwater - the pilot climbed up on the tail and we watched for an hour until another boat and men could be found. By this time Charley Auston had drowned. Six months later, Mother had her last baby and named him Auston Wright Proctor. It was at this time that we came to know the famous tango Dance team of Irene and Vernon Cassels." from John W. Proctor AutoBIO, pg. 13
Note: The Birth Reg'n. of Charles Francis Auston shows he was born in 1899 and Death Reg'n. shows he died 19 August 1918, 18y 9m old, working as a bank clerk. It says he died by drowning at Presqu'ile Beach so matches with the story from John Wright Proctor's AutoBIO. Also, Vernon and Irene Castle came to Presqu'ile Pavilion in the summer of 1917; he died in early 1918 in Texas.
Note: Before this was info re the sand beach at Presqu'ile and how trainee pilots would touch and take off on the sand beach.5 - Residence: 1919; Edmonton, Alberta; "Proctor family moved to Edmonton" per family tree of Paul Kelly, May 19 2017.2
