For him there was to be no future; he became ill on the voyage over and died at Kingston. He was buried among the other fourteen hundred victims of typhus on the site of the General Hospital. In 1966 the remains were reinterred in Kingston's St. Mary's Cemetery. Peggy Reid and her family were left destitute. Fortuntately, they had Irish friends on Amherst Island in the St. Lawrence and there they settled near the village of Stell." from page 93 of "Inheritance: Ontario's Century Farms Past & Present" by John & Monica Ladell, 1979.1
