- Father*: George Strevel b. Jan 1768, d. c 1855
- Mother*: Elizabeth ? b. c 1770
- Birth*: circa 1795; New York, U.S.A.; Location NY per Tobey Book - see Residence Tag, 1818. Per Will1
- Marriage*: 1819; Upper Canada; per GEDCOM of Cheryl Kemp Taber, Jan 9 2011.; Principal=Elizabeth Stewart2
- Death*: March 1846; Cramahe Twp., Northumberland Co., Canada West; Will Porbated Mar 31, 1846.
- Residence*: 1818; Cramahe Hill, Cramahe Twp., Northumberland Co., Upper Canada; "In 1818 M. Strevels from new York State came to live near Reverend Webster. The Ensign of March 20, 1896 in speaking of Mrs. Richmond the daughter of M. Strevils said: Mr. M. Strevils moved to Cramahe Hill, a few miles back of Hilton, from New York State about 1818 with a family of 11 children. The country was new with forests only partly cleared from the land and the roads running through the woods in many places without any regard to road allowance. The early settlers living there about that time were Joshua Webster, Captain Stephens, William Dunnett, Charles Becker, John Simpson, Timothy Olmstead, Jas. Smith, David Shears and Joshua Morden." pg. 71, The Tobey Book, Brighton Public Library, June 1, 2004.
Note: This would seem to refer to George Strevels who immigrated to Cramahe Twp. around 1818 and lived west of Codrington. His son Milton (the M. Strevels refered to here) died in 1846. His sister (daughter of George) married Sylvester Richmond of Hilton. I wonder if George Strevels had a middle name M. or were these folks mistaken about the generations?1 - Note*: 1818; Upper Canada; The piece in The Toby book regarding the death of "Mr. M. Strevil" may be a bit confusing. It says he came " ... from New York State about 1818 with a family of 11 children. ... ". This probably refers to George Strevels, the original settler of this name in Cramahe Twp. and father of John Milton Strevels. Other information shows that Milton Strevels died in 1846. The piece in The Toby Book is on page 70, in the large section covering the early 1800's - before it starts to be organized by year - starting with 1850. His father, George, is shown in the 1851 Census, age 84, with Milton's widow, Elizabeth. (Dan Buchanan, Jan 9 2011)

- Death*: 16 March 1914; Portage la Prairie, Manitoba; "George Henry Strevel (1836-1914) Railway contractor. Born in Northumberland County, Ontario on 28 March 1836, on of John Milton Strevel and Elizabeth Stewart, he worked on the family farm until he was 25 when he went to the USA and worked in railway construction, on the Council Bluffs & St. Joseph, the Missouri Pacific, and the Northern Pacific lines. He came to Winnipeg in 1873 and worked for a year as a walking boss on the construction of the Pembina branch of the Canadian Northern Railway. He then went into railway construction on his own behalf, engaged in construction of the Canadian Pacific Railway between Winnipeg and the Rockies. He retired from railway work, previously having purchased a block of land in Winnipeg between Portage and Graham Avenues, Donald and Hargrave Street, on which he built a residence for the princely sum of $35,000. He occupied the home for 25 years until it was demolished to make way for the Eatons department store. In 1864 he married Margaret Benson (?-1912) of Peterborough, Ontario. They had five children: Elizabeth Strevel (wife of Daniel McLean and Joseph Maw), Eva Strevel (wife of Frank A. Connor of Portage la Prairie), Cora Strevel (wife of John Harmer of Winnipeg), Margaret May Strevel Strevel (wife of S. C. Dunn), and George H. Strevel. He died at Portage la Prairie on 16 March 1914 and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery."
