• Death*: circa 1838; Percy Twp., Northumberland Co., Upper Canada; The 1837 Assessment record of Percy Twp. has census info for Simon Marke. It shows 7 total people, one male and one female over 16, 4 males under 16 and 1 female under 16. This matches perfectly with the names I have collection for Simon's early family with Rebecca Brunson. However, it also assumes that Rebeccs is still there, shown as a femaile over 16. It appears as if she died in Percy Twp. soon after the birth of daughter Margaret in 1836 and the 1837 Census. This is speculation based on real documents that don't tell us as much as we would like.   Note: Margaret Mark may be a daughter of Simon Mark and Rebecca Brunson. Maybe Rebecca died in childbirth? There is no Mark family in the area at the time other than Simon. The marriage records does not have parents named but the witnesses are James and Hannah Mark, so likely close family. Some speculation here, but based on numerous things we know or can assume. Would love to see more specifics re this.²
