"From my sister's work: Death notice/obituary: "Died Suddenly - William H. VanScriver Dropped Dead at Work - On Friday morning, just before noon, Mr. William H. VanScriver, a well known resident of this place, dropped dead at work at the National Steel Car Works, Hamilton. The deceased was early as usual, on Friday morning and left on the 6:00 a.m. Radial for his work. He did not complain of being sick, when his son Edward W. recieved word of his death, it came as a shock. The son immediately left for Hamilton. and had considerable problem learning any particulars regarding his father's death or even seeing him. Mr VanScriver in his 58 year, was born in Belleville, Ont. and had resided in Canada all his life. For about 17 years he was electrical engineer of the municipal electrical lighting plant in Picton, Ontario, previous to which he was employed in the same capacity by the A.C. Miller Canning Co. of that place. About 5 years ago he came to Burlington, where he had secured a position with the Burlington Canning Co. He also held papers as a marine engineer. He was a member of the "Loyal True Blues" and an associate member of the Foresters. Mr VanScriver had never been ill a day in his life, and the announcement of his death will come as a severe shock to all this friends. He is survived by his wife, who resides in Picton, and an only son, Edward W. of this town. A postmortem was held and it revealed that death was due to hardening of the arteries around the heart. The remains were brought home on Saturday morning, and the funeral took place to Greenwood Cemetery on Sunday afternoon, Rev A. Carr officiating."
