- Death*: 7 June 1883; Embro Pond, Embro, Oxford Co., Canada West; "ALMOND BUCK'S DEATH. A London Fisherman Found Drowned Near Embro. The intelligence contained in last evenings Advertiser in respect to the finding of the body of a man named Almond Buck, in the Embro Pond, attracted attention in the city. Among others, it was read by a family on the south side of Queen's avenue, between Park avenue and Wellington street, to the rear of whose house, in another frame, lived a man of that name. It was known that he had left on Thursday morning in a buggy, hired from Johnston's llvery stable, for the purpose of going trout fishing eastward from the city. He had borrowed a fishing basket from Dr. Woodruff, aod took, besides this, the necessary tackle. His clothing, the above articles and his general appearance being described in the despatch from Woodstock, led tho family above mentioned, and others who knew him personally, to conclude that hei and the drowned man were the same. A member of the family of Mr. Percival, who lives next door, and another neighbor, left with a horse and rig for Embro last night to bring tho body home, it being thought no inquest would bo necessary. Tbe funeral is to be conducted by Rev. A Grant this afternoon. Deceased had been married twice, but was a widow, aged 71 years. He leaves behind two daughters and one son, one of the former and the latter being young. He was formerly a gardener, and resided on BAthurst street, but prior to that was at one time in charge of a farm. Upon learning the news contained in the paper the children were thrown into the greatest distress, as they were fully convinced that it was their father whose body was found." per email from Janet Petrak, May 14 2021,
Note: Setting the date as June 7 1883 per Janet's email. The location is Embro Pond, north-east of London and just a bit north of Embro Village - in Oxford County.
