Drake. When it became known that this new highway was to come into being, people began building in centres on the new road. Thus we hve the new Hilton, Newcomb'sMills and Codrington. These villages grew up and there was opportunity in them for doing and of making things required by the people. Kankerville had in it at one time a flour mill, then north the old Davidson saw mill, the Geo. Davidson sash and door factory (turning lathe), the Richmond saw and plaster mill, Johnson match factory, the Geo. Gillett stave mill and cooiper works, the Dan Tompkins cooper and wood works, the Tom Faucet cooper works and the Potter Weavers, a store and toll gate operated by J. M. Maybee and boasted of a population of 200. Thence to Wade's Corners." This piece was written by F. O.
