When John Berry Ferris died in July 1920, his son, also called James Marshall Ferris, inherited the land and responsibility for the woodlot. ... when Jay died in 1960, it was his wish that the property remain in its natural state and be available to the public. Family members donated Ferris' Woods to the Sportsman's Club with a stipulation that another group of body would be named to look after the property if the arrangement with the club did not work out. ... - Note*: 1879; Morris Twp., Huron Co., Ontario; "Benjamin Fralick, J.P., of the township of Morris, is one of the most esteemed citizens of that locality. He is descended from U.E. Loyalist stock of the most rigid school and is a grandson of Martin Fralick who emigrated from Wurtemburg, Germany and settled near Albany, N.Y. He raised a family of seven sons and one daughter, among them Christopher, father of the subject of the present sketch. During the Revolutionary War, Christopher Fralick served in the command of his father who held a captaincy under General Burgoyne and, after the establishment of American independence, the entire family moved to Canada and settled in the Bay of Quinte region. Here Mr. Benjamin Fralick was born and brought up in the township of Ernestown, County of Addington. During the Anglo-American War of 1812-1815, his father served the Crown as Captain of Dragoons and died in 1823. Having learned the tanner and carrier trade, Mr. Benjamin Fralick commenced business in that line in Ernestown, 1831 and from 1830 to 1855 he succesfully prosecuted the same business in Belleville. He now determined to come west and settle his sons on farms, and accordingly, the same year (1855), located in Wawanosh, where he remained two years and, leaving two of his sons, removed with the balance of his family to Lots 29 and 30, Concession 3, Morris Township, his present place of residence. During the McKenzie Rebellion Mr. Fralick served as a Loyalist in the Hastings County Militia in which he was promoted to a captaincy. In 1857 he was placed on the Commission of the Peace of Huron County, which sits in Brussels. Mr. Fralick has also served with great popularity in the Township Council of Morris."
