  • Residence*: 19 December 1835; Sidney Twp., Hastings Co., Ontario; O.C. Date - Loyalist List, see Christopher Fralick.
  • Note*: circa 1840; Ontario; Richard Landers worked out relationships: "James Luther, Sarah Adeline and Margaret could not be attached to this family but I think belong to John Lewis Fralick January 23, 1794 - August 1852 and Catherine Johnson.
James is connected to this family for several reason. 1 Birth date as confirmed by Census means he could not be the son of Rachael Lockwood who married George Fraleigh July 19, 1842. Furthermore she was born around 1825.
    2. 1901 Census lists Jacob J as his brother born 1819. Confirms even more the above. He must have had some disability as he is always with James Lewis in the Census data. Since John Lewis died in 1852 then James Lewis would have responsibility for the family.(your own note states [42267] Age 26 at 1861 Census: see Jacob J. Fralick (not sure of relations to Jacob??)
    3. James Lewis Fralick had a brother who died in 1831. Since Lewis Ludwig is a family name he must have been given his dead brother's name as he was born 3 years after the death.
    4. Margaret get attached as per your note [59698] Age 22 at 1861 Census: see Jacob J. Fralick (not sure of relation??) She was not married until 1864.
    5. Sarah Adeline was married in 1848 so not in 1861 Census data. Not sure how she is connected to the family." per email from Richard Landers, May 14, 2003

Note: This appears to be the best place for this 1851 Census record I found in Hillier. John Fralick with young Lewis. Uncertain things are: Middle initial looks like C. - may be L.??; Age 63 not work perfectly but in the ball park??; shows married - M or W - not real clear??.10

Its special character is due to a common but striking combination of narrow, clapboard, original glass, a pillared verandah, and simple bargeboard. At one time a picket fence surrounded the house and gates and stiles stood at the driveway entrance. Just west of the former inn is one of the eighteen remaining milestones on the Napanee-Kingston road. The host of the inn was John Fralick.
