He was 45 years of age and his death was caused by a long illness resulting from a chronic disease contracted in the army. He had been in the ministry of the Methodist Episcopal church for over thirteen years. His last charge was at Birdsall, and about one years ago he was forcecd by ill health to resign it. As a pastor, as well as in every other relation of life, Mr. Freeland was known as an honest, conscientious and lovable man. About thirteen years ago he came East after having resided for about seven years in California, and last winter he returned to that state in the hope of benefitting his health. Mr. Freeland is a member of Teoronto Lodge, I.O.O.F, and also of the G.A.R. He serviced during the war in the First New York Cavalry.
