Mary is quite interesting because she had a large land parcel in Port Kells B.C. when she was still young and single, and it appears she had the land patent on it. Family legend was that she owned everything below the soil and above too, so planes were not authorized to fly over it. When I visited the property about 20 years ago it was noteworthy that the telephone poles went down the side of the street her property was on but they switched over across the street at the property line, then back again on the other side of the property. Mary had a brother who was well
  connected politically, I don't know his name yet. She was invited to the opening of the Parliament Buildings in Victoria BC . I have a copy of the invite." per email from Thomas, Dec 5 2019.

• Note: 1874; 200 Main St., Brighton, Northumberland Co., Ontario; "Statement of Cultural Heritage Value or Interest: The 'Fife House's' cultural heritage value lies in it being one of Brighton's finest examples of Italianate architecture. It is L-shaped and typical of the style, it features a hipped roof with a prominent overhang and wooden soffrts and paired, decorative brackets. The house was built in 1874 by Dr. Amos E. Fife, who ran his medical practice from there until his death in 1885, when it passed to his wife, Sarah Fife. The Fife House's associative heritage value also rests in the role that Dr. Fife played in Brighton. He was the first President of The Mechanic's Institute that, along with Library Association, was formed in 1869 to replace the earlier Brighton Library Club.
