  Note: The Memorial of Boaz Ames is one of many that were moved from old cemeteries along the St. Lawrence River in the 1950's when the St. Lawrence Seaway was built. The memorials have been mounted on walls in a pleasant park beside Upper Canada Village.
  Note: The Memorial of Boaz Ames at Woodland Cemetery is almost unreadable. You can make out the name, which is in larger letters, if you really look close. At the UC Village Admin Office they said to go to Lynne Cook's place (Dundas County Genealogy & Loyalist Research Centre) in Morrisburgh to find the transcription of memorials at UC Village. Had a wonderful time there - sooo much stuff.^2,3

• Note*: circa 1820; Boaz Ames and his family are included in this database in order to demonstrate that he is NOT connected to my Ames family in Brighton Township, Ontario. The idea was common in the mid-1900's that the memorial at Upper Canada Village of Boaz Ames represented a link to my Mother's Ames ancestry. Boaz Ames' Will makes it clear that he did not have a son named James who would have been 18 at the time of Boaz' death. This is NOT our link.
  Note: The family of Boaz Ames is connected to the Spafford family who came from the same area. It is a bit round-about and it is from someone else's research - but I used it. Feel free to comment on this.
