  • Residence*: after 1900; NW 28 26 28 W2, Davidson, Saskatchewan; "Hugh Davidson (I believe his middle name was Moreland) married Margaret Quinn and settled at Lakefield. He and his son Howard went to Alberta, Canada and homesteaded near Medicine Hat, but finding it not to their liking, they moved to Saskatuan, to Finnsbury, later to be renamed Davidson, after Hugh's cousin, Colonel A. D. Davidson, a wealthy land speculator. The Colonel made his money in railway building and land speculation in Western Canada. The two are connected, since a common way to finance railways was to hand out land grants to the builders, which land could be sold to settlers. Hugh and Margaret had three children."
