    Note: I wonder if this story is about this Samuel Strickland. It would appear so just because of the date 1826 and his wife dying. This is found in the chapter called "The O'Keefe Family, Cornwall Township, Stormont County", which is shortly after the chapter for the James Moreland family who's wife was Jane Reid.1,2

    Sydney Strickland Tully (born Toronto: 10 March 1860- died Toronto: 11 July 1911) was one of the most significant artists in turn of the Century Canadian Art. The National Gallery of Canada, formed 1885, acquired works generally by gift as Diploma pictures deposited by Royal Canadian Academicians. In 1908, the NGC purchased a painting by Sydney Strickland Tully, "Knalhaven, Dordrecht" 1907. It is listed as: Accession no. 63 indicating that it was the 63rd art work to be acquired for the National Collection. Remarkably, it would not be until 1911, three years later when the gallery acquired its next object. Accession no. 64, ALSO a purchase from Sydney Strickland Tully, a pastel, "Lady in White" 1910." per GEDCOM of Kaye, June 13, 2008.1
