  Note: This is pure speculation. Margaret Fusee is shown to be married to William Cole, and other records show her death in 1860. This record in CemSearch has no dates for her, meaning that no stone is found, but records suggest maybe she was there. The family lived in this area north of Codrington, so it is feasible. The other two, George and Richard, who died at different times in 1866, suggest young children dying of diptheria, often in groups, maybe not her kids???²

It's not known which of her four younger brothers it was but there were only three who were of age. Lewis Henry Fusee would have been 28, Charles Bartley 25 and James Anthony 17. The youngest Frank would have been just 6 at the time. It might even have been Thomas himself who was involved in the rebellion but more likely Melissa's brothers because her family was Métis. Because of this involvement at least one family member was wanted by the authorities and this was the reason Thomas & Melissa moved their family to the frontier of western Michigan. Fradette in Northumberland, Ontario on Nov. 22, 1867, and came with her husband to the United States in 1869, settling in the state of Michigan. In 1875, with her husband and family, she moved to Wisconsin, taking up a farmstead in the town of Warner, Clark County, on which they resided until 1901, when they moved to this city. Her husband passed away here in 1910. In 1923 she left Greenwood for Toulon, Ill., where she resided with a daughter until 1933, when she went to Neillsville to live with her son. About three weeks ago Mrs. Fradette fell, breaking her hip and it is believed that the shock of the fall, with the complications resulting from old age, were the causes of death.
  Thirteen children were born to this union, five of whom are living: Mrs. Adelaide Twichell, Trenton, Mich.; Mrs. Lottie Alliston, Chicago, Ill.; Mrs. Bessie Burch, Toulon, Ill.; Herbert W., Town of York, and James H., Neillsville. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Jeanette Bahel, Otsego, Mich. And Mrs. Emma Engel, Trent, Mich., and by a brother, James Fusee , Cheboygan, Mich., and by thirteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren living. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the Schiller Funeral Home, with Rev. P.B. White officiating. Interment was made in the Greenwood Cemetery." • Note*: circa 1864; U.S.A.; "Melissa & Thomas moved from Ontario to Michigan when they did because of Melissa's younger brother's involvement in the Riel Rebellion. It's not known which of her four younger brothers it was but there were only three who were of age. Lewis Henry Fusee would have been 28, Charles Bartley 25 and James Anthony 17. The youngest Frank would have been just 6 at the time. It might even have been Thomas himself who was involved in the rebellion but more likely Melissa's brothers because her family was Métis. Because of this involvement at least one family member was wanted by the authorities and this was the reason Thomas & Melissa moved their family to the frontier of western Michigan. Last Thursday night a man named Thomas H. Vanscikle, who resided in Fremont, on the Galbraith Line, got up a dance at his house and invoted his neighbours, to the number of forty or fifty. A quart of whisky and a keg of beer were obtained for a merry-making. The dance proceeded until about daylight, several of the party, including the host, Vansickle and Martin, the former insisting on dancing with the set on the floor, the latter remonstrating and pushing him away. Finally Martin drew back and struck Vansickle a violent blow with his flat across the collar bone. Vansickle fell across his wife's lap and rolled down upon the floor, a dead man." Thomas H.
