The King's Royal Regiment of New York, including John Dingman (later of Westminster Twp., Middlesex Co., Ontario). The situation for Loyalists was very bad at this time and this could have been around when the family moved to Unadilla to avoid the troubles. Word has it they could not avoid it there, either.

He was a United Empire Loyalist, coming to Canada in 1783. He owned 200 acres of land near Albany. He had four sons and three daughters, viz., in the order of their ages: Leah, who married Joseph Sharp, who moved back to the state of Ohio about the year 1811 and my grandfather never heard of them since; Sallie, who married a Mr. Munroe, who never came to Canada; Sarah Ann, who married Joseph French, who also stayed in Utica, -- both French and Munroe lived in Utica, and married before 1783, which was the reason their wives did not come to Canada.
