  • Immigration*: 1870; Coe Hill, Hastings Co., Ontario; Russell Jaques told me on October 10, 2000, at Campbellford, that his grandfather, Edward Blake Jacques (1861-1950) came from a large, poor family in Peckham Rye, a district of London, England. At the age of only 9 he ran away from home by himself and stowed away on a cattle ship bound for Canada. He ended up at Coe Hill where he spent his teens.
