  • Birth*: circa 1788; Upper Canada; Most of the info re this Elizabeth Palmer does not work. If married in 1808 she would likley be born around 1788 or earlier. David Palmer's youngest son, Thomas married Catherine Bowen. I thought she might be a dau. of David Palmer but then I see a baptism in the Catholic Church for David Bowen. No sure where she goes.1

David Palmer1

M, #40759, b. 1748, d. circa 1810
  • Birth*: 1748; Nine Partners, Dutchess Co., New York, U.S.A.; "Children born in Nine Partners, Dutchess Co., N. Y. Abraham, b. abt. 1748 David, b. abt. 1750 Ebenezer, b. abt. 1752 Noah, b. Feb. 2, 1756 Jacob, b. abt. 1758 Isaac, b. July 25, 1763 Darius, b. Mar. 11, 1764-5." from "Palmers in America" pg 535
"Another David was the one we have concluded to be a son of Abraham Palmer of Nine Partners." pg 271 Children of James Palmer by Horace Wilbur Palmer; two pages of this document are on the family tree of wrdus on ancestry.ca, Nov 3 2020.
"The text I've put in bold, re: The Palmer Families, is incorrect. Page 271 of that book instead reaches the conclusion that the David Palmer who settled in the Bay of Quinte west of Kingston was in fact the son of Abraham Palmer, not James Palmer. (Who knows which is correct, but regardless, the citation is misleading.)" from an email sent to me by Shelley Banks, Nov 2 2020.
Note: After looking at this situation, it appears as if different researchers have concluded different parentage for David Palmer of Fredericksburgh. The most recent info per Shelley Banks and the above quote from the Palmer book seems to confirm that Abraham was his father. Works for me. Changes made accordingly. It may be noted that the source of info I used in 2012, from an email sent to me by Betty Tartas, is still available on ancestry.ca in the same form and with the same family connections. (Dan Buchanan, Nov 3 2020)1,2,3,4
  • Marriage*: before 1770; Dutchess Co., New York, U.S.A.; "There is no record of his marriage or death and all we know of his wife is that her first name was Katreen. David must have married by about 1770 in New York State in order to have children as given, and there were probably other children of whom we have no record. He was also listed as residing in Sidney, Ontario, a few years later, which is in the same general locality. The records of the Lutheran Church and of the St. Warburg's Parish of the Anglican Church in Fredericksburg give us records of some of the children. Katreen may have been a Bull from Dutchess County closely related to George Bull who was born 1751 and went to Canada, as heretofore stated. Abraham had married a Bull and named a son David after a David Bull. This Palmer family was closely associated with the Bull family of Dutchess County." from page 541 of Palmers in America (Link to this is under David Palmer per family tree of Taylor_kirsch on ancestry.ca, Nov 3 2020.); Principal=Katreen Bull4

Note: I see that many folks have him in Fredericksburgh, but various pieces of evidence show this family lived in Thurlow Twp in the 1790s. The Crown Grant in 1803 may be for his son, David, and they did not actually live there.3,4
  • Note: circa 1775; New York, U.S.A.; "Because of the strong feeling in the Bull family we believe it had influence with the children of Abraham in persuading them also to migrate to Canada.
