• Note*: 1853; Quick's Wharf, Presqu'ile Bay, Northumberland Co., Canada West; Captain William Quick became the owner of the large wharf and storehouse at the bottom of Centre Street. The wharf had been built in 1853 by The Brighton Wharf Company with the objective of having a very good wharf facility at the southern terminus of the new Brighton and Seymour Gravel Road. The Tobey Book (pg. 258) tells us that wagons were often lined up a half mile waiting to unload at the wharf. It also says the wharf itself extended 60 rods into the bay. A large 3-storey warehouse building was located just to the east of Centre Street which was the primary road from Brighton Village down to the Bay. (Dan Buchanan, Jan 19 2022)¹¹
