Jonathan Fiddick1

M, #37056, b. November 1831, d. 31 December 1910

  • Birth*: November 1831; Cornwall, England; Date Nov 1831 per Burial. Date 1832 & location England per 1891 Census. Date 1832 7 location England per 1881 Census. Date 1832 & location England per 1871 Census. Date 1931 & location England from page 86 of "Ours To Remember" by Mary Ann Down, given to me by Shirley (Goodfellow) Bird, Sep. 3, 2004. Location Cornwall, England per Death Reg'n. of son Albert William Fiddick. Location England per Death Reg'n. of dau. Elizabeth Tucker (Fiddick) Michael.1,2,3,4,5,6
  • Marriage*: before 1857; from page 86 of "Ours To Remember" by Mary Ann Down, given to me by Shirley (Goodfellow) Bird, Sep. 3, 2004.; Principal=Mary Tucker1
  • Death*: 31 December 1910; Brighton, Northumberland Co., Ontario; Date Dec 31 1910 per Burial. Date 1910 & location Brighton from page 86 of "Ours To Remember" by Mary Ann Down, given to me by Shirley (Goodfellow) Bird, Sep. 3, 2004.1,2
  • Burial*: 2 January 1911; Salem Cemetery, Cramahe Twp., Salem, Northumberland Co., Ontario; Memorial: (See Exhibit) Jonathan; Fiddick; Died; Dec 31 1910; Aged; 79 Yrs, 1 Mo.; Mary; Wife of; Jonathan; Fiddick; Died; May 24, 1912; Aged; 77 Yrs. (Salem Cemetery, Salem, Jul 10 2004)2
  • Residence*: 1834; Ontario; " ...(came to Can. when 3 years old, 1834 or so)" from page 86 of "Ours To Remember" by Mary Ann Down, given to me by Shirley (Goodfellow) Bird, Sep. 3, 2004.1
  • Note*: circa 1860; Ontario; "Even Jonathan Fiddick was connected with the Philp Family branches, since his wife, Mary Tucker was the daughter of Samuel Tucker and Philippa Oke, and Philippa was a niece of Great-Grandmother Philp. So Charles and Jonathan were brothers and their wives were first cousins once removed. Because of this, Jonathan Fiddick's descendants are all relatives of the Philip descendants." from page 86 of "Ours To Remember" by Mary Ann Down, given to me by Shirley (Goodfellow) Bird, Sep. 3, 2004.
Note: Stitching this together was interesting. The GEDCOM of Dallas J. Manicom provided the Oke family, showing that Philippa Oke was a daughter of John Oke, a brother of Mary Oke who married John Philp. The parents of John and Mary Oke, and their other siblings, was William Oke and Christian Baker, according to this tree. Then, stepping back from Mary Ann (Mutton) Down to her Great-Grandmother, Mary (Oke) Philp, we can see that Philippa is a neice. On page 86, the reference in the middle of the page to Grandmother Philp's half-brotheris curious - maybe just a mistake. The description lower on the page makes it clear.1
