Note: We need to be careful to keep these people straight. This William J. Swetman is a son of William Jerome Swetman who died in 1866 while acting as Lighthouse Keeper at the Point Pelee Lighthouse. The son took over when his father died but then, by the 1871 Census, we see him taking over at Presqu'ile - when is grandfather, William Swetman, died. However, he does not stay long, moving to Rochester in 1873, and George Benedict Simpson, who married a daughter of William Swetman, took over the job.
