- Residence*: 6 October 1789; Conc 2 Lot 32, Camden East Twp., Lennox & Addington Co., Upper Canada; "The first record that we have of Christopher is in 1789, when he made a land claim as a Loyalist in the Upper Canada Land Petition, Misc. Bundle # 7 which states: "Memorial of Christopher Varty, Loyalist, that in consequence of his loyalty to His Majesty and to his attachment to the British Government he has come within the British lines. He would like the emoluments of land as extended to other subjects and wants 200 acres in the 8th Township." Dated at Kingston, 6 Oct. 1789. He was given lot 32, Concession 2, Camden East, Addington County. Lot 32 Concession 2, was located on the shores of Varty Iake. When Larry Varty of Taber, Alberta, was doing some research into this, he found that it had been called Varty lake as early as 1807, but he could not find out why it was given this name. Family legend says that Christopher eventually drowned in Varty lake." per GEDCOM of Robert Graham, June 26, 2009.
